Character Interview with Stacy Broussard from Deadly Encounter by DiAnn Mills

I’m thrilled to announce my August 1 release of Deadly Encounter, the first book in the new FBI Task Force series, set in Houston, Texas. This is my home and the setting for many of my romantic suspense novels.

Airport Ranger volunteer Stacy Broussard expected a peaceful Saturday morning ride around the perimeter of Houston’s airport. What she encounters instead is a brutal homicide and a baffling mystery. Next to the body is an injured dog, the dead man’s motorcycle, and a drone armed with a laser capable of taking down a 747.

Though FBI Special Agent Alex LeBlanc sees a clear-cut case of terrorism, his past has taught him to be suspicious of everyone, even witnesses. Even bleeding-heart veterinarians like Stacy. But when her gruesome discovery is only the first in a string of incidences that throw her life into a tailspin, Alex begins to wonder if Stacy was targeted. As a health emergency endangers Stacy’s community, and the task force pulls in leads from all directions, Alex and Stacy must work together to prevent another deadly encounter.

Deadly Encounter

The following is an interview with Stacy Broussard, my heroine. She’s a busy lady, but she took time time to answer a few questions for us today.

Question:

How did the story begin? Any premonitions about the day before it started?

Stacy:

Not really, except I shouldn’t have broken the Airport Ranger guidelines and ridden alone that Saturday morning. Never again. Learned my lesson.

Question:

We know from the back cover you walked into a horrendous crime, and all of us understand the trauma you experienced. But how did you get there? What are the Airport Rangers?

 Stacy:

The group is strictly volunteer from all walks of life. We ride with at least one other person the perimeter of Houston’s airport and report any unusual or unlawful findings to Houston’s Police Department. We’re trained too. You can read more about the Airport Rangers here: http://www.houstonairports.biz/airportrangers

Question:

What was your first impression of Special Agent Alex LeBlanc?

Stacy:

Stacy snorts, a bit unladylike. The man should have been wearing a T-shirt that said arrogant and rude. I mean, he attempted to backpedal when he realized his questions lacked a little compassion since I’d just found a dead man. Stacy smiles. He got to my heart in the course of the story, and we’ve been together ever since.

Question:

As a veterinarian, you have compassion for animals. Tell us about Xena.

Stacy:

I found the sweet golden Lab on the sane Saturday morning. She’d been wounded and didn’t wear a collar. I took her back to my clinic and Whitt named her Xena. We kept her. She plays a powerful role in the story.

Question:

Who is Whitt?

Stacy:

He is a twelve-year-old boy who helps me at the clinic, and his parents live across the street from my home. I love Whitt as though he were my own. Sweet boy, sweet Lab, and sweet FBI agent. Who could ask for more?

Question:

Where can we learn more about Deadly EncounterI?

Stacy:

I thought you’d never ask! Read the first chapter, watch the book trailer, and order from your favorite retail store here – http://www.diannmills.com/books/deadly-encounter/
