This week I’m hosting Anita Higman with Summer’s List (US only), and Bonnie Leon with To Dance with Dolphins (US only). If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on your post with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (August 16th) evening.
Interview with the heroine from Summer’s List by Anita Higman
1. Summer Snow, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
I love a well-told story, which is why I love owning a bookstore. It lets me be surrounded by what brings me great joy.
2. What do you do for fun?
Watching old black and white movies, because you can’t beat them for old-fashioned romance. Growing an herb garden in pots on my patio even though I don’t really have a green thumb. And I enjoy going to estate sales, looking for treasures. I used to do that with my Granny Snow, and it was such fun finding antique porcelain teacups that were gilded with gold and worn with time. One could almost hear whispers of bygone times from all the ladies who might have shared their lives as they sipped their tea from them. Oh, the stories those teacups could tell!
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
Housekeeping. I do it, and then later it has to be done all over again. Imagine!
4. What are you afraid of most in life?
Losing the people I love most in the world.
5. What do you want out of life?
To make kids happy with my bookstore. Watch them grow up and change through the power of stories.
6. What is the most important thing to you?
God and family and career in that order
7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?
I read a lot. I own a kid’s bookshop, and some my favorite books are for children, such as Charlotte’s Web.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I wish I weren’t so impulsive. It used to seem endearing to friends, but now it just seems immature. I need to grow up, which is why my beloved Granny Snow has given me a life-list of adventures to fulfill.
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
I don’t have a pet, but my dear friend Martin Langtree has a sweet Chihuahua named Laney. Yes, that the little dog has taken quite a shine to me and I to her.
10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
Victorian times. I’d go back for the fashions, but I’d quickly want to return to our era, since I would most likely come down with something nasty and some doctor would want to try bloodletting on me. Yikes! I would also miss many of our modern conveniences.
