Interview with the heroine from Married ’til Monday by Denise Hunter

1. Abby, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Most people find my occupation interesting. I’m a private investigator for a private agency in Indianapolis, Indiana. My background in investigative journalism didn’t quite prepare me for snooping through people’s garbage, though.

2. What do you do for fun?

My job demands a lot of focus, so I rely on my friend Gillian for an occasional girls night out—or rather, in—since they mostly consists of Red Box movies and junk food. Ironically enough, my best friend is a psychologist. But I try not to hold that against her.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Calling my mom. There’s a lot of baggage there, and I’d rather leave it closed. Still, she’s my mom. I can’t avoid her forever.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

My dad. I really don’t want to talk about him.

5. What do you want out of life?

Professionally, I’d like to work my way up and, ideally, manage my own agency. Personally, I’d like to find myself happily married with a child or two at some point. Although if I’m honest, I have a lot more healing to do before that can happen. As much as I’d like to deny it, my heart still belongs to my ex-husband.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Justice. Bad guys should be caught. The guilty should pay for their crimes. That’s partly why I find my job so satisfying.

7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I don’t read often, but when I do it’s usually true crime.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’d love nothing more than to be over Ryan McKinley once and for all. If only. It’s been three years, and I still can’t get him out of my head or out of my heart. It doesn’t help that my folks still think we’re married. Long story.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I have an adorable Yorkie named Boo. She’s my baby. She loves to cuddle, and she’s always there for me. Unfortunately she tends to piddle when she’s upset. Needless to say, I try to keep the anxiety to a bare minimum.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

Hmm. Hard question. Would I never meet Ryan? The thought of it makes that hollow spot in my stomach widen to an aching gap. No, I wouldn’t change that. I think I’d go back and try and figure out what really went wrong in our marriage. Maybe then I wouldn’t still be trying to pick up the broken pieces of my life three years later.

  13. I’m reading the book, as I have read the previous 3. I find the story mainly about Abby and Ryan’s separation and still deep feelings for each other. I’m a lover of the justice/suspense books and so far that I’ve read it’s just mentioned that Abby is an investigator. They are nice characters, but sad. They love each other but can’t work out their problems. I think Abby’s father has been verbally abusive and she has some low esteem problems. She may be protecting herself from more hurt by a man. Hope Ryan can help her fix everything and yes, the dog is cute. It is interesting that they are riding to her parents anniversary party together from Indiana to Maine because Abby’s mother still thinks they are married. Denise’s previous books on Ryan’s family have ended well with all their problems. I am sure this one will, too.

    • You’re spot on, Cora! Hope you enjoy the rest of the book.
