Interview with the heroine from Backfire by Elizabeth Goddard
1. Tracy Murray, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
I’m not sure it’s interesting as much as dangerous and it’s a secret, between you and me. I’m not in the witness protection program, but I’m hiding. Trying to forge a new life without losing my old one.
2. What do you do for fun?
I love to go for hikes or jog on trails.
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
I hope to stay hidden without going into WITSEC and I’ll put that off as long as I can.
4. What are you afraid of most in life?
I’m afraid of losing those I love, which is what will happen if I going into the program. I’ll never be able to make contact with the again. I’ve already lost enough. I’ve already paid a high price. Next to that, I’m afraid of fire. I chose to live in a rainforest.
5. What do you want out of life?
To be free of fear that I’ll be found. To feel loved and protected.
6. What is the most important thing to you?
Keeping my identity a secret, but next to that, helping others. That’s why I volunteer on a search and rescue team—so I can get the focus off myself and put it on others.
7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?
I love a good romantic comedy.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I can be too stubborn.
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
Yes, and he’s my dearest friend. Solomon is a golden retriever, and a search and rescue dog that I train and use on callouts. He’s a real hero.
10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
I’d go back to that moment where I could have stopped Derrick, the investigative reporter working for me, from pursuing his article about a gang.
