Interview with the hero from Bachelor to the Rescue by Lorraine Beatty:
1. Shaw McKinney, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
I’m a contractor specializing in restoring old buildings. I’m currently turning my old Victorian house from a duplex back to a single family home. I’m a great admirer of the craftsmen of the past. I envy the skill, the detail those men achieved. It give me great satisfaction to take an old structure and bring it back to the state it was in when first buit.
2. What do you do for fun?
Not much. I’ve started my own business so that takes all my time. I teach woodworking skills to local teens. That’s a lot of fun. Lately I’ve been introduced to tea parties and dress-up with Lainie’s little girls. They are a continuous source of entertainment. I enjoy having them in my life.
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
My business paperwork. I love my job but keeping track all those numbers and accounts makes my head hurt. Oh, and laundry. I’ll go buy a whole new wardrobe before I wash clothes.
4. What are you afraid of most in life?
That I’ll fall in love with someone wonderful but I’ll do something to make her walk away, like my mother did. Maybe I’m not cut out for a long term relationship. My dad wasn’t. He’s had a string of wives since mom left.
5. What do you want out of life?
I want to find someone to share my life with. That one special woman who will stand by forever. I’d love to have a family to come home to, kids playing in the yard, cutting the grass on weekends, sitting with my wife on the porch swing. All that ordinary stuff.
6. What is the most important thing to you?
Family and loyalty. I want to be part of a real family, to be a dad, but the idea terrifies me because I have no idea what a real family is all about. I admire Lainie’s loyalty to her husband’s memory but it’s the thing that prevents me from telling her how I feel. I can never live up to his image.
7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?
Spy thrillers. Those guys aren’t afraid of anything.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
That I was braver. I wish I could get past the losses in my past and move forward. My mom walked out on us when I was a kid, and my fiancé left me at the altar. Wish I could let it go but it’s not easy.
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
I have a three year old Dalmatian named Beaux. I inherited him as a pup from a friend who was moving away. He’s a handful but loyal and dependable. Well, he was until Lainie and the girls moved in. Now he’s more their dog than mine. But that’s okay. They really love that mutt.
10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
I’d like to return to the 1800s and study the woodworking techniques of the craftsmen back then. I’ve learned a lot by restoring things myself but I know there are hundreds of tricks of the trade that have been lost over time. I’d love to get my hands into some of those exotic woods that aren’t available any longer.
I enjoyed Shaw’s interview and would love to read his story! Thank you for the giveaway opportunity.

You’re welcome, Britney. This was a really fun story to tell.
I need to let you and the other readers know that I must apologize for the late responses. You see, I messed up and didn’t realize that this post had been scheduled for the week I was on vacation. So, I was two days into a cruise in the Caribbean when I realized, I had no internet and no way to respond. 🙁
On the bright side – we had a great cruise. LOL
#6’s a nice answer

thanks. Shaw definitely had some fears and insecurities to overcome. That’s why I gave him Lainie and her girls. He needed someone really special and really amazing.
Be sure and read the comment above about my late response. Next time I’ll check my vacation schedule. 🙂
