Interview with the hero from The Cowboy’s Forever Family by Deb Kastner:

1. Laney Beckett, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

My whole life is in an upheaval. My husband Brody died in a bull-riding accident and I’m carrying his child. I’m also trying to learn how to manage Brody’s ranch so my baby will have a legacy.

2. What do you do for fun?

My idea of relaxing is to stretch out on the couch with a nice cup of hot tea and read. I would also love to learn to ride a horse, but I’ll have to wait until Baby Beckett is born for that.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Slade McKenna, Brody’s best friend, is helping me learn the ropes of ranch management, but I’d rather chew barbed wire than spend time with him. I know he has my baby’s best interests at heart, but he can be overbearing at times.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

I pray every day that as a single mother I’ll be able to provide a stable home for Baby Beckett. I’m grateful for the blessing of Brody’s parents, but they won’t be around forever. Slade is here, but I’m not certain he’ll be a good influence.

5. What do you want out of life?

From the moment I found out I was pregnant, my goals and dreams have all revolved around motherhood. I want to give my child everything the world can offer—physically, emotionally and spiritually.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Faith and family. Baby Beckett, of course, and Brody’s parents.

7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

Oh, yes. I love to curl up with a good romance novel—contemporary, historical or suspense. I like a little of everything.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

That I wouldn’t be so quick to judge others and try to make them what I’d like them to be instead of understanding and appreciating the way God made them.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

No pets right now, although I have a ranch full of cows and horses. I just moved to Serendipity, Texas, so I haven’t had time to think about getting a pet. Maybe someday I’ll get a puppy or kitten for my child.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I’d go back to the day Brody and I separated. I would try to make things work between us. And I’d try to be more understanding of his love for rodeo and hanging out with his best friend Slade.
