This week I’m hosting Connie Mann with Angel Falls, Ruth Reid with An Angel by Her Side and Murray Pura withWhispers of a New Dawn. If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (March 31st) evening.
Interview with the heroine from Whispers of a New Dawn by Murray Pura:
1. Becky Whetstone, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
I always wanted to be like Amelia Earhart, I wanted to fly. Both my parents are fliers and they encouraged me to get into it if that’s what I really wanted. So I did and I love it.
2. What do you do for fun?
Well, I started to learn how to dance to the Big Bands music and that is a lot of fun, I look forward to an evening out on the dance floor.
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
Oh, doing a maintenance check on my airplane. It has to be done but it’s time consuming and I’d rather be flying.
4. What are you afraid of most in life?
Losing the people I love.
5. What do you want out of life?
I want to be free to go wherever God asks me to go and to do whatever he asks me to do. I don’t want barriers or obstacles to anything I believe I should be doing.
6. What is the most important thing to you?
My family. My boyfriend Christian Raven. My God.
7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?
I like to read books that have adventure in them as well as strong female characters.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I can get angry too fast. Sometimes I’m way too impulsive for my own good. So I wish I would learn to calm down, you know, fly straight and level more often instead of doing all kinds of dives and high climbs and barrel rolls.
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
I don’t have one yet but if I did I’d have a dog or maybe two dogs and they’d both be Alaskan Malamutes. I love that breed. They are so gentle and affectionate and so wild and free looking.
10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
Well, I wouldn’t go back before airplanes were invented so maybe it would have been fun to fly the old World War One biplanes. You know, planes like the SPAD, the Sopwith Camel, the Nieuport, and even German aircraft like the Fokker triplane with its three wings or the Albatros or their best plane, the Fokker D.VII. I would like to have been involved in dogfights with other planes and I’ll bet I would have come out on top most of the time.
I’ve never wanted to learn to fly, but I can understand that need for adventure & freedom in others.

safe flying is an angelic feeling esp. with an open cockpit – bless you!
thanks for the chance to read this wonderful novel
hi Karen – thanks so much for coming by – bless you this Good Friday
Fun interview! I wanted to learn to fly from the time I was about 6 years old. My step-dad was going to pay to have me take lessons and if the airport in my local town had openings for a ‘test flight’ I know I would have gone through with the lessons. But alas, I had to take the test flight at another smaller airport and there were some ‘small’ mountains in the area. I was enjoying the flight and looking down at all the teeny tiny swimming pools when the pilot said something to me and when I turned towards him all I saw in front of me was a mountain turned sideways. He was banking at the time and it scared me to pieces. He wanted me to land the plane. I remember telling him, “I’m sixteen years old and you want me to land this plane? I don’t think so.” He landed it and then he had me taxi it into the hangar area (I enjoyed that). So my step-dad took me back to the other airport and signed me up for classes but the classes didn’t start for 3 weeks so my fear of that mountain escalated and he ended up taking the one lesson he had paid for up front and that was the end of my piloting career. 🙁
I would absolutely love to win a copy of Whispers of a New Dawn. Thank you for the chance.

would love to win I loved series!
hi Debbie – thanks & all the best with this!
My uncle owned a small plane when I was growing up and would take us up once in a while…..I remember feeling that it must be how God looked down on all he had created and the joy he must feel…..And I searched for that little girl that always lay on the ground looking up at the clouds finding unique shapes of dogs and castles…..My uncle always made it seem as though we were on a marvelous adventure…..I still love flying in small planes and always carry the memories of the adventures we shared…..Love the photos you post of the planes…..You are a wonderful writer and a very caring person…..Thank you for your friendship…..Deb

I would most assuredly like to win this book of yours, Murray. I thought I’d entered this but can’t find my comment. So here goes again. I understand this is a sequel to your Wings of Morning book and that was super. So please put me in the running.

hi Vera – God bless you this Easter weekend – you are entered for sure now!
Oh yes, Murray. I do want to win this book of yours. When I was around 13 or so, our preacher owned a small plane and would take some of the kids for a ride. I really liked it and looking down, until he decided to do a loop and I thought “Oh no!” Did not like that part. It was scary! Hope you have a Happy Easter and, I hope I win your book. 🙂 GOD bless you. Maxie mac262(at)me(dot)com

I would love to win this book. Thought I had commented on here but don’t see it. I used to dream of going on an airplane. But was to scared to do it. I finally got to fly about twenty three years ago. It was amazing and scary all at the same time. I have been on one other airplane since then.
My e mail is seraphinangel7@aol.com
thank you for that Juanita
Hi Murray. Thanks for the option to win this book. You are a new to me author, just this past week. I have read all the notes above mine & enjoyed them. I am sure that i will enjoy your books. I like to fly but only of the big jets. I knew a man a long time ago from work & the company that we worked at died. Many years later I met my husband & this fellow worked with my husband & knew how to fly & had his own plane. My husband said he had a friend …. & he wants to take us on a free flight to Abbotsford airport, he had to pick something up. I said yes & what is the fellows name. He named my friends name & wondered if it was the same person as my friend I had no idea had a plane or knew how to fly. Yes, it was my friend Jim D. He had a 3 seater plane. Jim let Jeff have a turn flying (his hands on the right side of Jim) & Jeff did some gentle rights & lefts that left me nauseous. On the way back it was my turn. I just held onto the wheel straight, less nauseous that way. I & my stomach were glad when we finally landed at or C River airport. No more small planes for me! I have had to take some 15 or so seater planes. Big Jets are for me. I love reading the war history stories & I love to read the stories of the Amish people & their way of life. I would love to read your book.
hi kathleen – thanks for the great story – i remember all kinds of tough-on-the-stomach flights between vancouver and comox – blessings and all the best with the contest
Thanks Murray! It is great to talk to someone who knows where you are & been! I hope your Easter was wonderful for you! Mine was! Have a great new day.
Would love to win since Murray Pura is one of my favorite male authors. I have never been on a plane, and have no desire to. I leave the flying to everyone one else 🙂 Good luck everyone! hutchgurl54@msn.com
thank you for your kind words theresa and all the best with this contest – who knows?
Thank you for the opportunity to win your book! It looks great.
I love to fly and would love to be a pilot.
My first flight was when I was nineteen. It was during a storm on a little “puddle-jumper” but I fell in love. I’d fly everywhere if I could, even across the street if it was feasible. Fortunately, I enjoy driving too,but not as much as flying.
robbbyefaye@gmail.com
that is cool – i hope you fulfill your dream – we have a number of pilots in the family – God bless you
Oh I would love to read this and then send it to my Sister. Her husband is a jet and helicopter pilot and she is all about flying!
that’s cool Chris – let’s see what happens
The only time I have ever flown, was in a helicopter. I brought the most kids to my churches vacation bible school, and won a ride- don’t remember too much about it sadly. Thanks for having the contest Murray, I hope you and your family are having a blessed Easter!
