I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (January 6th) evening.
Interview with the heroine from Beauty in Disguise by Mary Moore:
1. Lady Kathryn, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
Oh, dear, I am not interesting at all. I am a companion to a baron’s daughter. I am preparing her for her London Season. I have had to make my own way in the world for many years now, but they are not interesting stories. I would much rather forget them.
2. What do you do for fun?
When Charity has no need of me I love most spending time with her two younger siblings. We go on all sorts of adventures around the property. I do so enjoy reading as well.
3. What is your favorite type of book to read?
I do like many of the new novels that are out now. They are so much more realistic than the harrowing ones where the heroine is always in danger for her life. But my favorite books are travel book. I have never been anywhere so I can dream of places through books.
4. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
I…I wear a sort of disguise, if you will, for my position. I shall not go into the reasons that has become necessary, but trust that women in need of a companion or governess do not want them to stand out in any way, so I must don a few articles of clothing that disguise my true appearance. I dread putting it on each day and I hate the lie it perpetrates.
5. What are you afraid of most in life?
Having that disguise discovered.
6. What do you want out of life?
I want to be hired into households where I may teach and love children until they grow up and do not need me any more. If I may do that and put my money away for the future when I am too old for such employment, I shall be content.
7. What is the most important thing to you?
Finding my way back to God. I fear He has removed His hand from me for my past, and I wish to be forgiven and once again under His protection.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
That is a hard question. There is much I would change about myself. But I believe the first would be to have a spirit of forgiveness. That one aspect in my life has led me down many difficult paths…all of which I deserved, do not feel badly for me. But I want others to see that trait in me; I want to be an example for others.
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
No, I cannot have pets in my position, but most of the households I have been employed in have dogs and horses, both of which I love.
10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
That is easy! I would travel back to ten years ago and change a decision that I made then. My life would be very much different had I done so then.
