I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (August 26th) evening.

Interview with the hero with The Deliverer by Kathi Macias:

1. Jonathan Flannery, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I was raised in a loving Christian home with a pastor for a dad and was even planning to go to Bible college after high school graduation, but it wasn’t until that summer between high school and college that I came to a personal relationship with Christ. Before that my biggest dream in life was a major baseball career.

2.  What do you do for fun?

Though my passion to serve Christ has now overcome my dream of playing professional ball, I still like to unwind with a good game or two with my friends.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Confronting people. Saying something that might hurt someone’s feelings, even though I know it’s necessary to “speak the truth in love.” I’m getting better at that, though.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

Before I received Jesus as Savior my greatest fear was that I’d be a total failure at Bible college, with no direction for my life, and blowing my chance at a professional baseball career. Now my greatest fear is missing God’s direction and going my own way—which I have learned is never the right choice. As a result, I spend more time listening for God’s still, small voice before making decisions.

5.  What do you want out of life?

I want to be faithful to my calling to serve Christ, in whatever capacity He has for me. I do believe that will include outreach ministry to the victims of human trafficking, particularly children.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

Staying faithful to God and serving Him with all my heart. If I do that, I know I will be able to set an example for others to follow because I want people to follow Christ and not me.

7.  Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

I read the Bible regularly, plus all my theological study books at Bible college. For recreation and relaxation I read Christian mysteries and suspense, especially international intrigue-type stories.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My tendency to avoid uncomfortable situations. Because I am tall and athletic, most people think of me as fearless, which is absolutely not true. I’ll jump in front of a bullet to protect someone else, but then I find myself having to fight the desire to back away from confrontation when I know I should voice what God has put on my heart.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I don’t have a pet now because of being in Bible college and living in a dorm room with another student. When I finally have my own place I will definitely have a dog, preferably a Lab or a German Shepherd. I think they’re magnificent looking animals, as well as strong and faithful.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

Definitely back to the time that Jesus walked the earth. Wow, what a privilege it would be to accompany Him during His three years of public ministry! I would really love that.
