Interview with the hero from Love in Disguise by Carol Cox:
1. Steven Pierce, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
I grew up in the East and graduated from Princeton before coming out west to make a life for myself. Owning the Redemption silver mine has been the most rewarding—and challenging—thing I’ve ever done.
2. What do you do for fun?
I’ll never get tired of looking at those glorious Arizona sunsets. My favorite place for watching them is at a quiet spot along the San Pedro River.
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
Making peace with my father. But I’m not sure how to make amends with him for what he sees as my failure, other than living my life in a way that proves his assessment of me to be wrong.
4. What are you afraid of most in life?
Letting God down . . . and proving my father right.
5. What do you want out of life?
From an eternal perspective, I want to live the way a man of God should. On a more immediate scale, I want to catch whoever has been stealing silver from the local mines. I can’t afford to go under—I have men with families who are depending on me for their livelihood.
6. What is the most important thing to you?
Living a life of integrity.
7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?
When I was studying at Princeton, it seemed like I did nothing but read. Since I came to Arizona and opened the Redemption Mine, I have little time to read anything except my Bible.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
People have told me I trust too easily.
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
I always had a dog while I was growing up, but right now I’m too busy working—and worrying about the recent silver thefts—to take care of a pet.
10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
I’d go back to my college days and do everything I could to convince my friend to take responsibility for his own actions instead of helping him cover up his misdeed. I thought I was doing him a favor at the time, but that one bad choice on my part radically altered both our lives and cost me my relationship with my father.
STEVEN PIERCE sounds like a lovely hero. Owning a silver mine has got to have it’s troubles.

Thanks, Mary! Of all the heroes I’ve written about over the years, Steven turned out to be one of my all-time favorites. And you’re right–operating a silver mine definitely brings its share of problems. : )
a weakness in character that we won’t stand up for ourselves could be behind the theft that they are free to do it and not get stopped or turned in ~*~ add me to the mix so I can find out!!
forgot to give you a place to find me! lanehillhouse[at]centurylink[dot]net Missouri
Kathleen, that’s a very interesting take on things! I loved the way Steven learned from the mistakes he made in the past and allowed them to shape him into the man Ellie meets.
Had heard raving reviews. Would like a chance to win! Love the cover…and covers aren’t usually my high point in a book.

Wow, Linda! That’s great that you’ve been hearing such good things about Love in Disguise! Music to my ears. : ) And I agree about the cover–it’s beautiful, isn’t it? The designer did such a wonderful job of expressing the “feel” of the story in that picture.
would love to read this wonderful story…thanks for the chance 😉
Thanks, Karen! I’m glad it sounds good to you! : )

Thank you, Jo! It was a little different, asking one of my characters to do an interview, but Steven came through for me. What a guy! : )
Have heard great reports on this book and am anxious to read it! I love the cover!

Thanks so much! This is the first time I’ve done a character interview, and I wasn’t sure what to expect . . . but I thought Steven cooperated beautifully. : )
