This week I’m hosting Louise M. Gouge with A Proper Companion, Carol Cox with Love in Disguise, Patty Smith Hall with Hearts in Hiding and Elizabeth Musser with Two Crosses and Two Testaments. If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (June 17th) evening.
Interview with the hero from Hearts in Hiding by Patty Smith Hall:
1. Beau Daniels, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
I escaped from a Nazi POW camp, but not before God got ahold of me and changed my life. Probably the only reason Edie Michaels gave me a chance.
2. What do you do for fun?
I played second base in high school before I ran away. And I enjoy working at the hospital after being a medic in the Army. I’m hoping one day to go back to college and get my medical degree.
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
Confronting Edie Michaels with the letter I found. I mean, what would a wonderful woman like Edie be doing with a note written in German? What is she hiding?
4. What are you afraid of most in life?
Ending up like my dad. The man is meaner than a rattlesnake and doesn’t care who he hurts as long as he gets what he wants.
5. What do you want to do with your life?
To make something out of myself. Nursing those men on the battlefield gave me a purpose for the first time in my life. If I can play a part in healing people, I’d consider that a great privilege.
6. What is the most important thing to you?
Honesty. How can I expect people to respect the change God has made in my life if I’m not totally honest about who I was, who my father is?
7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?
I’m not much of a reader, but I do read about sports in the Marietta Daily Journal. Something I’ve noticed Edie likes to do to.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I don’t know if I could just pick one. I was heading down the same road as my dad when God went to work on me.
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
I’ve been moving all over the world for the last ten years first with the Civil Conservation Corp, then with the Army. But maybe now that I’m getting settled in, I might have to think about a dog, maybe a blue tick hound.
10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
Truth be told, I don’t think I’d want to go back in time. The path I had to walk lead me toward my meeting with the Lord, and I wouldn’t change that for anything.
