This week I’m hosting Renee Ryan with Mistaken Bride, Lacy Williams with The Homesteader’s Sweetheart and Cynthia Ruchti with His Grace Is Sufficient…Decaf Is Not.  If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (May 20th) evening.

Interview with the heroine from The Homesteader’s Sweetheart:

1.  Penny, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

When I was twelve years old, my secret wish was to ride in a local cowboy exhibition, a Round Up. But my mother says it isn’t proper for a true lady to even attend one of the Round Ups (mostly because of the rowdy cowboys), much less train horses or ride a bucking bronco.

2.  What do you do for fun?

I enjoy the parties that my father gives. I love getting dressed up and when he allows me to purchase a new gown, that is the best! I also enjoy visiting ladies in town with my mother and I draw on occasion.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

I don’t particularly like having confrontations with my father. He can be rather overbearing at times and I always end up feeling as if I am in the wrong, even if what I want isn’t a bad thing. For instance, my father wants to marry me off to this awful man who I can’t stand, but my father refuses to listen to my side of things.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

I’m afraid of being stuck in a marriage like the one my parents have. I’m holding out for true love, and I won’t marry until I find it.

5.  What do you want out of life?

Well, I thought I wanted to marry someone who could support the lifestyle I enjoy, however, I’ve met this family—they are next door neighbors to my grandfather and it’s a single father with eight children!—and they’re teaching me what a family is REALLY supposed to be like. They’re making me rethink my life.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I enjoy reading dime novels, especially romantic ones. I really want to find true love for myself…

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My impulsiveness. Often my mouth, erm… runs away with me and gets me into trouble. And I act without thinking sometimes, which can get me into trouble.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I don’t have a pet, but I am particularly fond of one of my grandfather’s horses. I helped break him (train him) and I love riding him, feeling the wind in my hair—but don’t tell my mother that I like such an unladylike activity!

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I don’t particularly think I’d like traveling back in time, to more primitive circumstances. I enjoy the conveniences of my time, like railroad travel and the telegraph.
