Interview with Zeke Lam:

1.  What made you start writing? My writing began as a result of a challenging season that my family and I endured. God used it to sharpen and prepare us for His purpose for our lives. The desire to record and share what the Lord was teaching me was the spark for my writing career.

2.  How long have you been writing? When did you sell your first book? I have been writing for several years, but only within the past year have I ventured to complete a book. My first book sold in December of 2011.

3.  How do you handle rejections? I handle all rejections from the perspective that God is orchestrating my path. If I can stay focused on viewing my life through His eyes, I gain power over the hurt caused by rejection. My Father knows what is best for His son. With that in mind, I have to trust in what He gives and what He takes away.

4.  Why do you write? I write to convey the message of Christ. It is my heart beating passion to see the lost find Christ and to see Christians draw closer to our Father’s heart. Writing gives me the chance to share with precious people whom I may never meet.

5.  What would you be doing with your free time if you weren’t writing? When I am not writing or ministering, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three beautiful babies. We hike, play ball, swim, – anything that keeps us outdoors.

6.  What are you working on right now? I am currently in the early stages of working on book #2 in the SUBMISSION series.

7.  Do you put yourself into your books/characters? I use testimonies from my life for illustration purpose in my books.

8.  Tell us about the book you have out right now. SUBMISSION, heeding only His voice, focuses on addressing the need for solid Scriptural obedience. Using testimonies from the Word of God as well as a few personal experiences, my hope through this book is that God’s people will become more sensitive towards not only hearing His voice, but obeying it!

9.  Do you have any advice for other writers? Always remember that your written words are powerful ministry tools. Pour your heart into it with the understanding that it could change a life.

10. How important is faith in your books? Faith in Jesus Christ is critical to my writing. In fact, it is the only reason I write.

11. What themes do you like to write about? At the moment, I write Christian nonfiction books which focus on discipleship and spiritual revival. They revolve around a common theme of submission to the voice of God.

12. What is your writing schedule like? I try to write in blocks of quiet time. This usually takes place early in the morning before family, work, and ministry “officially” begins.
