This week I’m hosting Vickie McDonough with Long Trail Home, Mary Ellis with A Marriage for Meghan, and Janelle Mowery with When Love Gets in the Way. If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (November 20th) evening.
Interview with the heroine from When Love Gets in the Way:
1. Grace Bradley, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
I’m a runaway. I ran from home so I could be free to make my own decisions instead of always doing what men want me to do. What I’m learning is that making the right decisions can sometimes be quite difficult.
2. What do you do for fun?
I enjoy spending time with my new friend, Belle Kline. Not only is she witty, but she’s also wise with great advice. And she wields a mean basket if she needs a weapon.
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
I find the most distasteful thing I have to do in my new job is to take a chicken’s life just so we can eat it. They usually beat me silly with their wings while trying to peck at my hands and arms before I can get the terrible deed done.
4. What are you afraid of most in life?
My father is trying to make me marry a man I don’t like. I’d rather be single my entire life than marry a man like Frank.
5. What do you want out of life?
I just want to be happy. I’ve had so little of that, what with my mother being sick most of my life and then losing her not long ago. Then needing to run from a marriage I don’t want. I’ve seen the joy in Jace and Bobbie Kincaid’s marriage. I’d like to feel that kind of joy.
6. What is the most important thing to you?
I crave freedom. I’ve spent the last several years of my life taking care of my parents, and now I’m working for the Kincaids. I wonder what it would be like not to be tied down. Yet Belle tells me I’ll never be free until I give my life to the Lord.
7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?
I haven’t had a lot of time to read, but if I can read, I like adventure stories. What better than to read about people on exciting escapades all over the world.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I’m known to be somewhat accident prone, to the point where people are afraid to be around me. I’d rather my actions match my name.
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
I don’t know if you can call it a pet, but a goat named Jonah has been placed in my care. He was rather thin when we acquired him and I’ve fattened him up. But I think Jonah doesn’t like me and is planning my demise. He’s constantly eyeing me and shaking his head. We’ll have to come up with some kind of truce.
10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
I think I would like to go back to the day my parents met and be able to see them at a time in their lives when everything was new, fresh, healthy and happy.
