Interview with the heroine from Deeply Devoted by Maggie Brendan:
1. Catharine Olsen, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
Hallo. I can think of a couple of things. I’m a mail-order bride from Holland excited to become the wife of Peter Andersen a wheat farmer in Cheyenne, Wyoming. My past is riddled with tragedy and I bring along my younger two sisters with me.
2. What do you do for fun?
Gardening is my favorite thing to do. I love planting flowers and watching them grow, however, I find the summer heat in Cheyenne hard on my garden but the constant wind can sometimes be harsh…and lonely.
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
One thing I dread is telling Peter about my past, although I know that I must. The other thing is dealing with his mother whose greatest desire is to discredit me.
4. What are you afraid of most in life?
I think I’m afraid that Peter won’t care for me when he learns the real truth about me.
5. What do you want out of life?
Most important to me would be to have loving husband, forgiveness and a raising a family who has great faith.
6. What is the most important thing to you?
That would be my relationship with God and then my husband.
7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?
I start and end my day with scripture, so I’d had to say the Bible. I’m reading Jane Eyre presently and I’m enjoying it. I enjoy stories with adventure and romance because I’m a romantic at heart.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Ack! That I could learn to be more trusting not let my emotions take over my sensibilities.
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
Ja, thanks to Anna! I have a furry little dog named Ginger.
10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
I think I’d like to have been here when America was first settled. Being from Amsterdam, I’m learning about its rich history from Peter. It would be very interesting to meet the many immigrants who have made American what it is today and experience it first-hand, including my new Italian friends, Mario and Angelina, who run the Ristorante in Cheyenne.
Thank you so much for the chance to win this. This looks like an amazing book. I would love to read this. Thanks again.

What a fun interview! It would be very special for me to win this, because my mom recently passed away…she was Dutch and collected Blue Willow like the plate on the cover. I miss her alot.:( Thanks for the opportunity to enter!
Deeply Devoted sounds really good. Looking forward to reading it.

Hmmm…what is her mysterious past? I really enjoy stories about mail-order brides and marriages of convenience and am intrigued by Deeply Devoted. Can’t wait to read this one!

I also enjoy stories of mail-order brides and marriages of convenience. Add to that the heroine being from Holland and I’m hooked. I’ve visited Holland about thirty times over the last twenty years and have many friends from there.
Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy.
Now you’ve gotten me to thinking of Holland and the great places, food, and people there.
