Congratulations to Karen for winning for Kay Marshall Strom’s Faith of Ashish, to Patsy for winning for Adina Senft’s The Wounded Heart and to Angela for winning Roger Bruner’s Lost in Dreams.

This week I’m hosting Susan Page Davis with Captive Trail, Valerie Hansen with Nightwatch (two books in a giveaway), and Anne Mateer withWings of a Dream. If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (October 2nd) evening.

Interview with the hero with Captive Trail by Susan Page Davis:

1. Ned Bright, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Driving a stagecoach on the new Overland Mail route is pretty interesting, don’t you think?

2, What do you do for fun?

Well, my partner and his boys and I like to hunt. We got a buffalo one time, but they’re getting scarce in these parts now.

3, What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Cleaning. Since Tree’s wife died (he’s my partner) we all take turns doing house chores. His kids do most of the cooking, but somebody has to do laundry and such. I sure do hate that.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

Losing the people I care about. We’ve had some close calls, out here on the Texas plains. I wish I could protect everyone I love.

5.  What do you want out of life?

A place of my own, and a family.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

I hope to please God, but sometimes I’m not sure how to do that.

7.  Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

I don’t get hold of many books out here, but when I do, I enjoy reading. I borrowed one from Sister Adele a little while ago, but it was pretty hard to understand. I liked the one Frau Stein had at the stage stop, though—The Scarlet Letter. That was interesting.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Reckon I’d have one of these big ranches and be the boss of the place.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I guess if you call a horse a pet, I do. Champ’s a stout horse, and he’s stuck by me through a lot of situations. He outran a bunch of Comanche once. I took him right inside the mission chapel. Wasn’t going to leave him outside for the Indians to steal.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I guess I’d go back to the day Taabe Waipu was captured and try to stop it somehow. If I could keep that little girl from going through all she did, I’d sure feel happy.
