Carolines Choice

Interview with the hero from Caroline’s Choice:

1.Matt Haynes, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
I’m a rancher and will someday have my own ranch, but right now I’m busy helping Pa with his. That may not be very interesting, but then I’m just a simple cowboy who loves what he’s doing. I do have a strong faith in God because He has brought my family through a number of crisis situations.

2.What do you do for fun?
I enjoy going into town for the church socials and special events like our July 4th celebration. I really enjoy Sundays with our family together for meals either at my sister’s house in Barton Creek or here on the ranch.

3.What do you put off doing because you dread it?
Putting down an injured horse. I usually let one of the other cowboys do it.

4.What are you afraid of most in life?
My biggest fear is not being able to accomplish my goals and fulfilling God’s will for my life. Right now I’m afraid of losing Caroline, but I want her to be happy, so I won’t stand in the way of her plans even if they don’t include me.

5.What do you want out of life?
First of all I want to please God and I hope that’s with a ranch of my own and a wife to work alongside me.

6.What is the most important thing to you?
God and family. I serve a merciful God who has given me a wonderful family as I have grown up.

7.Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?
I don’t have much time for reading now, but I enjoy books with adventures like Mark Twain.

8.If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Not to be so hesitant to tell Caroline how I really felt about her years ago.

9.Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
My horse is my pet as well as my working partner and companion.

10.If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
We’re getting ready to celebrate Oklahoma becoming a state in our great country, so I think I’d like to go back to the time when our forefathers fought the British to secure the freedoms we wanted with the Declaration of Independence. I would like to have been a part of that revolution.
