Interview with the heroine from Stars in the Night:

1.Audra, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Many people find it interesting that in this day and age I have a law degree. Somedays I think it was a good decision. Others, I think I was crazy. Why go get a degree when nobody lets me actually practice? But I still have cautious hopes that my day will come.

2. What do you do for fun?

Lately I’ve been hanging around Hollywood and its constellation of stars. I’ve always enjoyed a Saturday afternoon at the matinee, but never imagined myself in Hollywood. I certainly don’t like the reason I initially ended up there. Searching for a missing sister is never a good reason to go anywhere. But now, I’m wondering if I might not like the area for itself. It certainly is different from Indianapolis.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Golly, you ask the questions. Hmmm, I don’t like to admit it, but I tend to hide from meeting new people behind my fairly severe exterior. I don’t have my sister’s bubbly personality. But that doesn’t mean I should shun meeting new people and tackling new experiences.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

The things I’ve feared most have happened. Somedays I wonder how I even manage to get out of bed…nothing but the grace of God. Reminds me of the hymn. You know the one…
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Those words have become so true to me as I’ve walked the roads I feared most and find myself standing on the other side.

5. What do you want out of life?

I want to find a love that will last…and maybe have. Time will tell. But I also want to find a way to use my talents to serve others. I’m no Florence Nightengale or Clara Barton, but I have to believe that God has me on the journey He does – not for me only, but for others, too.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Living a life that honors God while still seeking answers He may never grant me. But to know I have done all He asked and hear Him say well done when my life is ended.

7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

Shh, don’t tell anyone but I enjoy dime novels entirely too much. Maybe it’s because I do so much heavy reading at work, but when I’m on my time I like to relax with a silly novel.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I would have my sister’s grace and presence. She could have been a star with a figure, face, and style like she had. But God didn’t grace me with those things.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

No. No pets. I’ve always thought it would be fun to have a horse, but it’s certainly not very practical.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I have to think about this one. I’d love to shadow a woman like Florence Nightengale who laid down her life for others at a time when people couldn’t understand why a woman would do such a thing. Yes, she may have been a nurse, but then it was frowned upon. Maybe, from her, I could glean wisdom and grace for my own journey to be accepted in a new field.
