This week I’m hosting Susan Page Davis with The Gunsmith’s Gallantry and Lena Nelson Dooley with Love Finds You in Golden, New Mexico. If you want to enter the drawings, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (June 6th) evening.

Hero Interview for The Gunsmith’s Gallantry by Susan Page Davis:

1. Hiram Dooley, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Hmm. Not much to tell. I fix guns. Once I punched a cowpoke in a saloon. But don’t ask me about that. I don’t want a lot of folks knowing I went in a saloon.

2. What do you do for fun?

Uh. . .

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

I sure have put off telling someone how I feel about her. Figured there was no way she’d reciprocate, so what was the point?

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Rose Caplinger. She’s got a way of sinking her hooks into a man. No, seriously, I think I’ve got that covered now. I guess the thing I truly fear most is losing the people I love. It’s happened before, and it could happen again. You just never know.

5. What do you want out of life?

Peace and quiet. Lots of peace and quiet. And I wouldn’t mind having a family again. My sister Trudy’s leaving me to get married, and I’m contemplating changing my state, too.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Integrity. And a certain woman who owns the Paragon Emporium. Hey, you’re not going to tell anyone, are you?

7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

Sure, I read about anything that comes up the trail. A Smith & Wesson catalog sets my hearts tripping.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Wouldn’t mind having more confidence. But then I’d probably get into more fixes than I do now. Like this thing with Isabel Fennel’s father. How did I get dragged into that? Oh, yeah. Libby brought Isabel to dinner. Well, I guess that’s all right, then. But I’m not really sure I want to know what Cy Fennel buried.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

Not a pet exactly. I have this horse called Hoss. Don’t tell him, but I’ll probably start riding a younger cayuse soon. Thinking about getting a dog, too.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

If I could go back ten years, I’d take my wife, Violet, to Boise. We didn’t have a doctor then. Don’t know as a doctor coulda helped, but I’d have felt less guilt after she died. Other than that. . .well, I wouldn’t mind meeting Henry Deringer and shaking his hand. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I see the Ladies’ Shooting Club heading down the lane. I’m going to duck out the back.

  9. Thank you, ladies! Hiram was fun to work with, though at times I had to drag him into scenes and force him to talk. Sandee, I love Mary's books, too, and her covers are terrific. I do appreciate the way the cover art folks portrayed my Ladies Shooting Club members with their weapons of choice. I'm sure Hiram appreciates that, too.

Loved book one so I know I will love book two.

  11. Thanks, Jenny. Good to see you here.
