The drawings end Sunday (April 18th) evening.

Interview with the hero from Anonymous Bride by Vickie McDonough:

1. Luke, tell me the most interesting thing about you. Shucks, ma’am. I don’t know as I’m all that interesting. I suppose my time in the army would interest some. I chased down outlaws, kept peace with the Indians and whites as best as I could, ate beans that had so much dust in them they looked like muddy creek water. Mostly, I just tried to stay alive and forget the gal who broke my heart.

2. What do you do for fun? Joke around with my two ornery cousins, Garrett and Mark. Truth be told, they’re more like brothers since we we’re all about the same age and grew up in the same small town. We pulled a lot of pranks in our days, and those two yahoos are still at it. Just wait ’till you hear what they did to me.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it? There’s a certain lady in town that I dread facing. We have a past, but it’s not something I can talk about here. Sorry.

4. What are you afraid of most in life? Men don’t like to admit to being afraid, but I guess if you’re gonna twist my arm, I’ll tell you. I’d like to get married and raise a family, but I’m afraid to trust women after the last gal I loved stampeded all over my heart. After over a decade, it still hasn’t fully healed.

5. What do you want out of life? I didn’t used to be a Christian, but I am now. I want people to know that I serve God and obey his statutes. I want to stand before God one day and have him say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” But before I can do that, I have to learn to truly forgive those who’ve hurt me.

6. What is the most important thing to you? Doing my job as sheriff well. My town is small, but I’m the line in the sand. The one who protects the good citizens of Lookout, Texas, from those who’d like to come in and steal from them and cause trouble. If I fail in my job, someone could lose his life.

7. Do you read books? Sorry, but I don’t have time to read much. I mostly peruse wanted posters. If so, what is your favorite type of book? When I do read, I choose God’s Word. I need that time to keep me on the straight and narrow.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My first thought was to say that I wish I’d never returned to Lookout, but that’s not totally true. I guess if I could change somethin’ I’d like to be able to talk to women without stumblin’ over my tongue.

9. Do you have a pet? Yep. If so, what is it and why that pet? An old yellow dog named Max. Found him raiding people’s trash and making a mess. I even locked him up in my jail for time. Got some good comments from that.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why? I’d go back eleven years and change what happen to my fiancée. I was supposed to meet her at the river for a time talkin’ and spoonin’, but I was working hard to make enough money that I could get a place where we could live, so we could get married. I can’t tell you what happened that day, but I’d give all I have to go back and change things.
