Darlene Franklin’s heroine interview from her story:
Interview with the hero:
1. Fabrizio, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
You might like to know I came to this country from Potenza in Italy when I was a little boy. We brought a little bit of Italy with us; Denver has a thriving Italian community.
2. What do you do for fun?
My family, we do a lot of things together. My nonno—what you call in English Grandfather—tells a lot of stories of the old country.
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
I do not like being alone. At home, I am surrounded by my four sisters. I share a room at the Brown Palace when I spend the night. I do not go places by myself.
4. What are you afraid of most in life?
My Nonno is quite a man. I will never be as brave or strong as he is.
5. What do you want out of life?
A family of my own. A way to provide for a family.
6. What is the most important thing to you?
My Lord Jesus. Without Him, I am nothing.
7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?
The poetry, I read. Even you Americans read Dante.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would be rich, of course!
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
Me, I have no pets. My little sister Maria has a cat. She likes to pretend it’s her baby sister.
10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
I want to go forward in time. The 20th century will bring exciting changes and I want to see them all. The motorcars I fix are just the beginning.
