Summer over

» Posted on Aug 30, 2006 in Blog | 3 comments

Well, not exactly but with the passing of Labor Day in a few days, I think of summer as being over. I’m back in school. The kids are back in school. The weather is actually even getting a little cooler. But of course with 105 a few weeks ago the temperature didn’t have too many places to go but down.

So does anyone have their Christmas shopping done yet? I love the holidays, but it can be so hectic. There is so much to do and so little time. Now I have two grandchildren to include in my holidays. It is neat to experience things through a child’s eyes.

One of them is going to be a cheerleader–(she’s in kindergarten and cheerleading is like a sport now). She is practicing cheers and is so excited. This is going to be fun. She will be performing at different functions. I wouldn’t have done that in kindergarten. I did cheer in junior and high school, but it was so different than it is now–like so many things are.

  1. I’d send you some of our cooler weather if I could. We have started getting chilly nights with warm days which just puts autumn and pumpkins and apples on the brain.

Christmas with kids is a whole different experience, Christmas with grandparents is too. It’s been fun to see how my kids (8&4) view things, what traditions stick out to them and what things they make into traditions. And grandparents…well, my parents used to be conservative, responsible parents. I’m not sure what it was about me giving birth that caused such a serious personality change in them. 🙂

  2. I miss the seasonal changes from living up North but I love having year-round weather here in FL.

I too see Labor Day as the end of the summer, although I’m still trying to adjust to school starting BEFORE the holiday.

Christmas?! You’re really good. Check back with me about a week before.

  3. LOL, Christmas shopping done !
I don’t do my shopping until the week before 🙂
