Bullies

In Tidings of Joy I deal with the subjects of bullies. I’m not just talking about school bullies. Bullying can happen any place, anywhere. I’ve dealt with bullies as a teacher. Another word for bullying is harassing. As I finished up writing my reader’s letter today for Tidings of Joy, I revisited a good, informative book I read concerning bullying. It’s Barbara Coloroso’s The Bully, the Bullied and the Bystander. If you are a parent and your child has been in any of those roles in school or outside of school, please read this book. It gives good suggestions on how to break the cycle of violence in our culture and schools. School shootings often stem from a person or persons who were bullied and finally struck back in anger and frustration.

  1. That is soooo true. Or they are picked on. One thing we should teach our children is to treat others with the love and respect that God used when He created them. That ALL other people have feelings.

Thank you for dealing with such a timely issue.

I went to a BofE meeting last month to hear my neice read for them to prove that the reading program does work….and heard to children give a talk about the new bully program they have put into effect. They even had a pledge the children said every morning after the Pledge of Allegiance. I heard from other parents that it seems to be working quite well.

    Hugs,
    Pammer
