With RWA’s (Romance Writers of America) national conference next week in Reno I wanted to stress to any writer going how important networking is to your career. This is a good time to mingle with editors and agents as well as other writers and gleam information you might be able to use in your writing. There are a host of workshops ranging from beginning tips for writers to advance classes on the craft of writing. Also there are research classes and publishers put on spotlights, informing the audience of what they are looking for. There is a lot to choose from when attending–sometimes I feel too much. A person can feel overwhelmed with the choices. Go to the conference with a game plan and stick to it as much as you can. If you need workshops on the craft of writing, do those. If you want to get a feel for what is selling right now and what the publisher wants, go to the spotlights and the workshops with editors. Get enough rest and pace yourself. But above all have fun and enjoy yourself. Oh, and please stop by my table at the literary signing on Wednesday in Reno and say hi. I hope to see some of you in Reno next week.
