Okay, Laura Marie Altom and I finally did it. We had been talking for several years about applying for Amazing Race, and since they had a casting call here in my hometown, we went this morning. It was so much fun even though I had to stand in line for several hours (I hate standing in line). The people in line around me were wonderful. It was so interesting to talk to the other people applying. One couple had come down from Kansas. Others from different towns in Oklahoma. Still others from Texas. The staff at Channel 6 were great putting us at ease and then videotaping us for the program. I told them I would be using my experience in a book one day. You never know since as a writer I often pull from experiences I’ve had. I love to travel and meet people so what a neat way to do both as a contestant on Amazing Race. Oh, Laura and I called ourselves Team Romance. We didn’t rehearse much and surprisingly I didn’t freeze in front of the camera. It would be interesting to see our tape–or maybe I really don’t want to see it.
