When something is bothering you about your book, listen to that inner voice. I have found it is usually right whether it is a plot element, the structure of a sentence, or a piece of dialogue. Usually someone else will point it out to me (if I’m lucky before I send it off to my editor) if I leave it. On a subconscious level our inner editor is operating. Let it.
