Alpha vs. Beta

How many of your prefer your heroes alpha or beta? Alpha is the strong, silent type. I think along the lines of a warrior when I think of an alpha male. Beta is the supportive type. He may actually be a friend first. I think of the friendly next door neighbor. Then I hear there is a cross between the two (called gamma?) which is what I prefer. I have to admit I love reading about an alpha male but I don’t think I could marry one.
