What makes a good book?

I’m curious to hear what you think makes a good book. I want one that is entertaining and keeps me on the edge of my seat. I want one that I can’t put down even to go to bed. I want a happy, satisfying ending. I don’t mind a lot of things going wrong during the story but I want a resolution at the end that leaves me feeling content that the characters would be all right. Gone With the Wind was a great story but I still replay that ending and have to come up with my own that gives a more definite resolution to Scarlett and Rhett’s story.

  1. I like a book that grabs me from the start and won’t let go until the end, and if I don’t like the way it ended, I think of how I would have wanted it to end,
I have gone without sleep if a book
is that good, and they are the ones I read over and over.

  2. I think a good book is one that creates a perfect image in your mind. One that when you read, you’ll know exactly whats going on. The ending needs something special, something unique and interesting. I have read several books with horrible beginnings but end up being such great books. To authors out there, remember to write good beginnings so that the reader will read your entire book 🙂
