Feeding tubes

The headline on Saturday was “Schiavo feeding tube pulled.” This has been in the news for the past few days and I find I must make a comment on this. I have worked with children who have feeding tubes. The thought that the courts can rule to have one removed and starve a person to death unnerves me. It shouldn’t be her husband’s or the court’s decision when she dies. It’s God’s decision. She is breathing on her own and her eyes are open. She can blink. I know we have come a long way medically, but when I think of the children I’ve worked with, I don’t see how they can remove her feeding tube.
