Interview with the heroine from Island Christmas by Kimberly Rose Johnson

1. Rachel Narrelli, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I’m a single/widowed mom of a three-year-old. Now I know that’s not unique, but little Jassie is my life. On a professional level, I just accepted a position at Wildflower Fresh, working as the sous chef for an old friend who happens to be a five star chef.

2. What do you do for fun?

I haven’t had time for any hobbies, but I do enjoy visiting with friends, new and old. Chris Campbell has certainly caught my eye. He’s a nice man and my son adores him.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Hmm. Well, this year I’ve procrastinated putting up a Christmas tree. I don’t know if it’s because I dread it, or if life keeps getting in the way. This will be Jassie’s and my first Christmas solo. I’m looking forward to starting some new traditions with my son.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Finding love then losing it.

5. What do you want out of life?

I want to be a good mom and prove myself professionally. Oh, and I’d love to marry again someday, even though the idea is a little scary.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

My son. When I first found out I was pregnant with him, I was unmarried and scared, then the baby’s father and I decided to marry and two weeks later he died. I wasn’t sure if I would even keep my baby. I tossed around the idea of putting him up for adoption because I was young, had no job or skills and I was scared. Keeping Jason was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, but I could not have done it without my parents’ help.

7. Do you read books?

When I can. If so, what is your favorite type of book? I enjoy cookbooks. Although lately I’ve been reading the Bible a lot. My new boss and friend Zoe, gave me one of hers and marked some passages for me to read. I respect her a lot, so I plan to read what she recommended.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I would change my past. It wasn’t stellar, but on the other hand, my past helped mold me into the person I am today, and I like this person. LOL Maybe I would make myself more decisive.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

No pets, but maybe someday.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I mentioned earlier that I’ve been reading my Bible a lot lately, and well, it’s brought up a lot of questions, so I would travel back to Jesus’ day. There is so much I don’t understand, and I would love to pick His brain. It would also be interesting to see how food was prepared at that time too.
