Interview with the heroine from Proof of Innocence by Lenora Worth

1. Erin Eagleton, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I’m not that interesting, really. Right now, however, I’m very much in the news and I’m the topic of the day around Washington, DC. People think I murdered my ex-boyfriend, Michael Jeffries.

2. What do you do for fun?

Used to, Michael and I ate dinner together a lot. I worked all the time since I pretty much ran the Eagleton Foundation. My father is a U.S. Senator.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

I’ve been running for my life, but I’ve put off turning myself in because I’m innocent. I’m going to prove it one day.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

That I made a bad mistake when I broke up with Chase Zachary right after high school. I might die but I’ll always wonder if we could have had the life we dreamed about.

5. What do you want out of life?

Freedom. Sunshine on my face. Chase’s forgiveness. My father’s approval.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Right now, proving I’m not a murderer. I know who did this but no one will believe me.

7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I read a lot of autobiographies and some fiction but lately, I’ve been reading all about myself. Most of it lies but … it does look like I’m guilty.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’d go back to that horrible night when Michael was killed and I’d call the authorities right away, somehow.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I’ve never had a pet. I saw Chase the night Michael died, just before I went looking for Michael. His K-9 partner Valor is so incredible. I hope they find me and help me.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

Back to the summer Chase and I had our fight and broke up. I’d tell him I love him and want to be with him, no matter what. It’s too late now but … maybe he’ll believe me and help me prove my innocence.
