Interview with the heroine from Family of Her Dreams by Keli Gwyn

1.  Tess, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

My height. I’m six foot tall. I realize that’s unusual for a woman, but people do like to make a fuss about it. Based upon the turned heads and number of comments uttered behind hand fans that I hear, you’d think they’d never seen a tall woman before.

2.  What do you do for fun?

I love to cook and often spend my Saturday afternoons off creating new recipes. My boss, Spencer, is more than willing to sample the new dishes for me.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Few things daunt me, but for some reason the thought of spending time alone with Spencer in his parlor of an evening unsettles me. I want to help him work through his grief over the loss of his wife, but it’s difficult when the dear man won’t say much.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

Spending all my years alone.

5.  What do you want out of life?

Having grown up in an orphanage, I long for a family of my own with a husband and children to shower with love.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

My journal. I record my hopes and dreams in it and tuck mementos between its pages.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

As a housekeeper with two young charges, I’m too busy to sit down and read books myself. I do enjoy reading picture books to Spencer’s children, though.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’ve been told I’m a bit outspoken. While I believe it’s important to let others know what I think, there are times I ought to give myself a few more moments to form a response before voicing my opinion.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I’ve never had a pet, but Spencer has a loyal watchdog that is a real help with the children. He lets me know when adventurous Luke wanders off.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I’d go back to the day my mother died when I was three years old and my father left me on the orphanage steps. I would chase after him and beg him not to leave me instead of standing there crying and confused, wondering what I’d done wrong and why my own papa didn’t want me anymore.

Thank you for hosting me, Mrs. Daley. Your wonderful questions really made me think. I must be going now, or Luke is likely to get into mischief. Again.
