Outlaw Takes a Bride

Interview with the hero from The Outlaw Takes a Bride by Susan Page Davis:

1. Johnny Paynter, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Most people think I’m my brother, Mark, but I don’t dare tell them it’s not true.

2. What do you do for fun?

I haven’t exactly had much fun lately. Ever since I was accused of killing my foreman, I’ve been too worried to relax or cut loose.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Telling Sally the truth.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

I thought I was afraid of being hanged for something I didn’t do, but now I know I’m more afraid of breaking Sally’s heart.

5. What do you want out of life?

Just peace and quiet and a chance to make a life with Sally.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Doing what’s right—but I guess I already blew that one.

7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

Not very often. The only book we have in the house is a Bible. I wouldn’t mind reading some stories if I got a chance. Maybe something about the knights in the olden times.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I never would have told the first lie.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

Not unless you count my horse, but he’s not exactly a pet.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

Back to Colorado, the day Red Howell was murdered. If I could stop it, I would. And if I couldn’t, well, I sure wouldn’t run.
