Second Chance Reunion coverInterview with the hero from Second Chance Reunion by Merrillee Whren:

1. Ian Montgomery, tell me the most interesting thing about you. I’m a lawyer for the Village of Hope, a multi-faceted ministry that provides help for people in need.

2. What do you do for fun? Fun. I work a lot, so I don’t do much for fun, but I enjoy my work. It does my heart good to see people better their circumstances.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it? Talking to my dad. I’ve let him down in the past, so I find it hard to confide in him.

4. What are you afraid of most in life? My biggest fear is returning to my addictions. I’ve been clean and sober for eight years.

5. What do you want out of life? I want to serve the Lord and make my family proud, especially my dad. I don’t want to be a disappointment to anyone again.

6. What is the most important thing to you? The most important thing for me is the Village of Hope and the people we help here, even Annie, my ex-wife.

7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book? I read mostly non-fiction—the kind of books that help with the ministries here at The Village. But lately, I’ve been reading children’s books to Annie’s kids. Those books are definitely a change of pace from my regular reading.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I would change the way I let down the people that I love. I want people to look at me as someone they can count on.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet? I don’t have a pet. With all the ministry work I don’t have time to devote to a pet.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why? I would travel back to the time when I was sixteen and first started dating Annie. I would be strong for the Lord and convince Annie that the path she was on was the wrong one rather than going along with the activities that led to our eventual downfall and the collapse of our marriage.
