This week I’m hosting Heather Woodhaven with Calculated Risk (US only) and Vickie McDonough with Gabriel’s Atonement. If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on your post with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (Jan. 25th) evening.

Gabriel's AtonementInterview with the hero from Gabriel’s Atonement by Vickie McDonough:

1. Gabriel Coulter, tell me the most interesting thing about you. Some folks find it interestin’ that I’m a gambler, but others look down their nose at me because of my profession.

2. What do you do for fun? I like to take long rides on my horse, Tempest. I enjoy gettin’ out of town and away from all of the busyness.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it? I made a promise to my ma when she was dyin’, and I’ve put off keeping it. It’s not an easy thing she asked of me.

4. What are you afraid of most in life? Turnin’ out to be an abusive man like my stepfather was.

5. What do you want out of life? Someday, I’d like to find a good woman like my ma was to marry, but good women don’t marry gamblers.

6. What is the most important thing to you? Believe it or not, integrity is important to me. I don’t cheat at cards. I read people really well and win more than I lose. I don’t drink or spend time with the saloon gals, probably because of my ma and her influence.

7. Do you read books? Yes, I’m happy to admit I can read. If so, what is your favorite type of book? I’ve recently discovered an author named Jules Verne. His novels are rather interesting.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I’d probably choose a different career—something more acceptable, such as ranching. I’ve always liked horses.

9. Do you have a pet? No. If so, what is it and why that pet?

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why? I’d go back to when my real pa died and change that. If he hadn’t died when I was so young, I imagine my life would have turned out much differently.

    • I don’t either–unless you count Gabe. 🙂 As I plotted the book, I wrestled with the fact that Gabe was a gambler, but his job doesn’t define who he is as a man.

  14. This books sounds really good!

I’d never heard of it before, so I’m really glad I dropped by and got to know a little more about one of it’s character. I find this interview very touching. I think this book is going to be very deep 🙂
I also saw it was the first in a series… Is it going to be the same characters throughout the series or will the books focus on different characters?

    Thanks for the giveaway!
(I figured this giveaway was open to Canada since it wasn’t mentioned)
