9780373282890Interview with the heroine from Rocky Mountain Dreams by Danica Favorite:

1. Annabelle Lassiter, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
That’s a tough one. I haven’t gotten to do all the interesting things that I’d like to do, such as travel back east, yet. I suppose some people would find it interesting that I work with my father in his ministry to the lost. We spend a lot of time traveling between mining camps when the weather is good. As much as I hate the deplorable conditions in some of the camps, I do love being able to look out and see the majestic Rockies all the time.

2. What do you do for fun?
Some people would tell you that it’s not very ladylike, and I suppose they’re right, but I really do love to fish. There’s something about our mountain streams that brings clarity to my thoughts.
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
Dealing with the loss of my mother and siblings. I know people think I need to just get over it and move on, but they don’t understand how close we were. I’m afraid that if I follow everyone’s advice, my family will be lost to me forever. The loneliness right now is unbearable. I can’t imagine how hard it will be if I don’t have their memories to cling to.
4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Losing someone else I love.

5. What do you want out of life?

I want to be able to travel and see the world. I’d really love to go back east and get to know my mother’s relatives.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?
I love to read. This is going to sound so trite, coming from a preacher’s daughter, but I read my Bible a lot. Mostly because I’m not sure I believe anymore. I keep hoping that if I study it hard enough, I’ll find the answers that don’t seem to come when I think of all I’ve lost.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I would love to have more faith. My father seems to think that everything happens for a reason, even the bad, but I’m not so sure. I wish I could just trust in God’s plan the way he does.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

No, and I’m fine with that. It seems to me that having a pet is one more way of having something either die or run away from you.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
I would go back to when my family got sick. I would have called the doctor sooner, and I wouldn’t have sent Slade to do it. Then maybe they all would have survived.
