Love Never FailsInterview with the heroine from Love Never Fails by Martha Rogers:

1. Molly Whiteman, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I’m a school teacher and teach the lower grades in Stoney Creek School. Only this year did they allow married teachers, so the teacher before me came back to teach the upper grades. I love my students, and about half of them are kin to me in some way or other.

2. What do you do for fun?

I love our church socials and holiday celebrations in Stoney Creek. Women outnumber men these days, so there’s not a lot of courting. Most of the things I love doing are with my family.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

At one time it was helping my mother around the house and taking care of my younger brothers and sisters, but I don’t mind that at all anymore. I suppose the one thing I might really dread is confrontation. I don’t like arguing with anyone.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Guns and violence because my father was a prisoner of war and my mother had to kill a soldier during the War because some soldiers invaded her home and threatened her life. I hope pray we will never have another war.

5. What do you want out of life?

I really want a home and family like my parents have. Their love is so special. They not only love each other, but the love the Lord and have taught all of us how important it is to trust God in all things.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Actually there are two because I always put God first, but my family is so very important to me. I have five younger brothers and sisters and I’d do anything to protect them from harm.

7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I’ve loved to read since I was a child and have received many books as gifts through the years. My favorite books are those by Louisa May Alcott and one by Anna Sewell, Black Beauty. With my uncle owning a horse ranch and my love of horses, I had to read it. My mother also likes to read, so we have a good number of books in our home.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Well, may be it’d be better if I didn’t always speak my mind and could be a little more understanding of others. Sometimes I get an opinion and nothing will change it, that is until the Lord convicts me and shows me the error of my attitude.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

We don’t have any pets now. Although my brothers would love to have a dog, Mama says she’d be the one having to take care of it and six children are all she can manage.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I might like to go back to last years of the 18th century after our nation became the United States of America. Everything about our nation was new and exciting. The war was over and new cities and towns were springing up everywhere. I would love to have lived in Boston around that time. History is one of my favorite subjects, so being in the city where so much took place at the time of the revolution would be very exciting for me.
