This week I’m hosting  Christina Rich with The Warrior’s Vow and Sandra Glahn with Informed Consent (US only). If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on your post with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (July 27th) evening.

Informed ConsentInterview with the hero from Informed Consent by Sandra Glahn:

1. Dr. Jeremy Cramer, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I have figured out how to cure HIV-AIDS. I just need the funding….

2. What do you do for fun?

I love to hang out in the laboratory and play the “what if” game. Some would say, therefore, that I have no life. They would be wrong.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

I put off communicating with my wife. I like marriage, but I dislike feeling that I’ve messed up. And I mess up often. I make a better researcher than a spouse.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Drowning. My father died in a drowning accident. I was there, so water petrifies me.

5. What do you want out of life?

I want to alleviate suffering. My wife and I lost one child in an accident, and nearly lost another when I was an idiot and took him to the lab with me and got distracted. I know life is fragile. I want to keep others from having to experience the angst and anguish and marital trauma I’ve been through. Curing AIDS seems like a great way to do that.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

It may not sound like it, but my wife and son are the most important thing in the world to me. As you will read in my story, I was willing to go pretty far to save my marriage and my child’s life. Some might say I went too far. They would be wrong.

7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

I have no time for books. Call me a geek, but I love journals. I especially love reading the International Journal of Epidemiology.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Hyper focus is my greatest strength and my greatest weakness. I wish I could find a way for it to be only my strength. I have a bad habit of getting so focused on my experiments that I can forget even important stuff…like safety.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I have two goldfish. What they require relationally makes them the perfect pets for me.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I would go back to the day my father took me on a float trip, and I would talk him out of getting into that boat. It makes my palms sweat to think about it.

  2. Would LOVE to get a copy of Sandi’s book! She is an amazing inspiration to so many — especially women in the body of Christ who are looking to pursue their Creator in His limitless grace. She has broken the mold with her passion for women in the church to be equipped and encouraged to bring their gifts to the table. 🙂
