Blind_TrustInterview with the hero from Blind Trust by Sandra Orchard:

1. Tom Parker, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I’m a detective with the Port Aster police detachment. I investigate everything from murder to counterfeiting, and do my best to keep a beautiful redhead who keeps landing in the middle of my cases out of trouble.

2. What do you do for fun?

Spending time with Kate—the beautiful redhead—would be my first choice. But I also love to hang out with my twin four-year-old nephews. They are balls of energy and fun to goof around with.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Answering interview questions like this. I don’t know! Probably asking Kate out, because I’m afraid she’ll turn me down.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Making a wrong decision that costs someone their life.

5. What do you want out of life?

I want to help people, make a difference. And I’d like to share my life with Kate, but if she ever finds out the secret I’m keeping, I’m afraid she’ll hate me.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Family. In my line of work, especially before I came back to this quiet, rural area, I saw a lot of awful stuff. I saw the job tear relationships apart. Playing with my crazy little nephews, seeing my sister and her husband happily married, working with Dad has made me appreciate what I’ve been missing being so far away.

7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

Since I’m always investigating several cases at one time, any reading time is usually spent reviewing case files or conducting internet searches. I try to read my Bible each day, and I have to admit that I enjoy reading picture books to my nephews.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

To trust my instincts.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

No, I don’t. With the crazy hours I keep, I don’t think I could spend enough time with a pet. But I’d love to have a dog for my nephews to play with. My sister and her husband own an antique shop, so a rough and tumble dog would not be welcome there.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I’d go back to a few days before my FBI partner was killed in an explosion and do what I should have done—report him—then he’d still be alive. I don’t ever intend to make a mistake like that again. It’s the reason why I’m keeping this secret from Kate, even though I know she’ll hate me for it. Because it’s the only way I know to keep her safe.
