Branding Wrangler's Heart_2Interview with the hero: Whitaker Hutton from Branding the Wrangler’s Heart by Davalynn Spencer:

1. Whit, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I know a sick cow, a good horse, and a fine woman when I see one. No order of preference there.

2. What do you do for fun?

Lately, fun has been teasing the fire out of my boss’s granddaughter, Livvy Hartman, but it looks like I’m going to have to give that up if I ever want her to take me seriously. It’s hard. Just got a teasing nature, I guess.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

I guess that would be going to town. Not that I don’t want to see my folks, but they keep hinting at me taking over the mercantile for Grandma, and that’s just not gonna happen.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Being stuck indoors behind a shop counter. And Livvy Hartman when she gets riled.

5. What do you want out of life?

I want my own spread and Livvy sharing it with me.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Right now, it’s doing my best at the Bar-HB, taking care of things for Hubert Baker who’s too old to be out looking for strays, though I sure wouldn’t let him hear me say that. It’s part of living an honest life, keeping things straight between me and the Good Lord and the people I work with.

7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

My tally book is about the only thing I read nowadays, other than the Good Book, of course, with my pa being a preacher and all.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’d fatten up that roll of bills hidden at the bottom of my bunk.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

Oro, my buckskin isn’t really a pet, he’s more of a working partner. But I did pick up an abandoned pup a while back. He’s turning out to be a decent dog. Named him Maverick.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I for sure would go back ten years and not push Livvy Hartman into the horse trough at the church yard.
