1.  Brenda, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Since I was in the US Army for over a decade, I’m more comfortable going by the name of Kaye.  I joined the morning after I graduated from high school.  My parents and grandmother were killed coming home from New Year’s Eve church service.  The drunk driver hit them head on, killing everyone.  I was in the car behind with my grandfather.  The last half of my senior year passed an in blur.  I didn’t want to deal with the pain.  When I can back to our ranch, I had to deal with all those old hurts.  But the new trauma, living through a suicide bomber in Bagdad where I was stationed, brought an entirely new set of problems.

2.  What do you do for fun? Ride my horse.  Midnight is an understanding friend who loves to go out and run and doesn’t ask how I’m feeling.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?  Cooking.  My mom knew I didn’t like kitchen stuff but would rather be out in the barn with my dad.  Of course, the army was great because I didn’t have to come up with meals.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?  Dealing with my pastI ran from it, but God graciously brought those wounds to light and had me deal with them.

5.  What do you want out of life?  Help the other veterans coming home from their tours.  There are lots of scars and wounds to the soul that need to be addressed.  I want to help others to do that and let them know they are not alone.

6.  What is the most important thing to you? Finding the path that God’s laid out for me.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?  Of course.  While I was in the army, I got my undergraduate degree.  When I read for fun, I love detective stories.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?  I’d like to be a blonde and petite.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet? My horse, Midnight. She’s the best therapist going.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?  I’d go back to the night my parent’s died and have the wait 5 more minutes before leaving the church.
