The Calling, Book 2 in ‘The Inn at Eagle Hill’ series (Revell)

Releasing January 14,  2014

TheCallingInterview with the hero:

1. Jimmy Fisher, tell me the most interesting thing about you:

My name is James Fisher, owner and proprietor of Fisher Chicken and Egg Hatchery. Partner to Galen King’s horse training business. Friends call me Jimmy.

The most interesting thing about me? Beside the fact that girls of any age can’t resist me? Or that I am a pyrotechnic? Self-taught, too. But I suppose the most interesting thing about me is that I’m the best horse trainer in Lancaster County. The very best. (Galen King won’t be reading this blog, right?)

2.  What do you do for fun?

The strategic use of firecrackers, in the hands of a skilled pyrotechnic such as myself, can empty a farmer’s wheat field of birds in a matter of seconds. It’s careful work, not for the amateur, but nothing beats the sight of a flock of birds lifting into the sky, startled by the rat-a-tat of exploding firecrackers. Now that is what I call fun.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Breaking a girl’s heart.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

Have you ever been on the wrong side of Bethany Schrock’s temper? Makes a grown man shudder and weep and beg for mercy.

5.  What do you want out of life?

Nothing more than a prosperous farm on extraordinarily good land without any chickens—not one. Plus my own horse breeding business anchored by Lodestar, my prize stallion. Someday, a missus. Possibly, a missus like Bethany Schrock. And down the road, a few boys who look just like me.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

There’s a certain horse, Lodestar, that has captured my heart. Bethany Schrock told me the horse is more important to me than she is. Not true. Well, maybe a little true.

7.  Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

Oh no. Never read unless I have to. My mother warned me long ago that it ruins the eyes.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

One more inch. Just one more inch. If I could be one inch taller, I would have my brother Paul beat. That would be nice.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

Some, such as Bethany, have accused me of turning Lodestar into a pet. Ridiculous.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

Why would I want to be anywhere but here, right now? Life is too good.
