  1. Thomas Watson, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
Probably the most interesting thing about me is that I’m the son of Dr. John Watson, the celebrated biographer of the even more celebrated consulting detective, Sherlock Holmes. My mother died when I was quite young, so I was raised by three bumbling bachelors: my father, Sherlock, and Sherlock’s brother, Mycroft.
  2. What do you do for fun?
I must admit, I don’t have much fun. I’m something of a loner, working all the time, and it was only when Mycroft moved from London to live with me in Philadelphia that I had any real social life.
  3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
Probably cleaning and straightening up my apartment. When Mycroft moved in, he hired Basil Meridan as his butler, and Basil takes care of much of the tidying up. I still deal with my personal papers, and my writing desk is a mess most of the time.
  4. What are you afraid of most in life?
Deep down, I think I fear being a failure. I want to succeed in my profession — journalism — but it seems I am constantly hampered by my boss, who refuses to give me regular assignments, and sticks me with writing obituaries.
  5. What do you want out of life?
I want to be a successful journalist — or at least that’s what I thought I wanted. Once I got involved with Mycroft and Basil on the adventure I call The Case of the Exploding Speakeasy, I began to realize that I also had a yen for adventure.
  6. What is the most important thing to you?
Probably it is truth — I want to ferret out the story behind the story.
  7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?
I love my father’s stories of his adventures with Sherlock Holmes, and I hope to write up a few of my own adventures with Mycroft.
  8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I suppose I would like to be as observant as Mycroft, and be able to discover the solution to a mystery. I always feel like I’m one or two steps behind him.
  9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
Nope, no pets! I wanted a dog when I was a child, but Mrs. Hudson, our landlady, wouldn’t allow it!
  10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
I would love to go back to the early days of my father’s association with Mr. Holmes, and join in their adventures!
