The Christmas PromiseInterview with the heroine from The Christmas Promise with Kimberly Johnson:

1. Keira, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I own and operate a candy shop. I love chocolate! Good thing I have self-control. J That being said most people find the fact that I hate winter and yet I live in a mountain town intriguing. You may think that’s not all that interesting, but winter comes full force here. Some people think I’m nuts for sticking around, but this home—if only I could get past my paralyzing fear of driving in winter weather.

2. What do you do for fun?

Hmm, who has time for fun? Between being a full time mom and running my candy shop there’s not much time for fun. My friend, Susan, doesn’t seem to understand that though, because she set me up on a blind date and didn’t bother to tell me about it until it was too late to cancel.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Oh that’s easy—winter driving. But, I’m really working on getting past that fear. With the Lord’s help, I’m certain that I can overcome this ridiculous phobia that has me trapped in the village all winter long.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

LOL—Icy roads! Do you sense a theme in my life? J

5. What do you want out of life?

I want my son to be happy. He’s getting to an age now where he’s noticing that he doesn’t have a dad like the other kids in his Sunday school class—his dad was killed on an icy road four years ago when Cody was only six months old. Anyway, Cody wants a puppy for Christmas and I want to get one for him. I know a puppy isn’t a dad, but you should see the smile on his face when he spots a dog.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

My relationship with the Lord is my top priority, but my son is a very close second. After all, I enlisted Pete Harding’s help to find a puppy for Cody—oh boy, now there’s a story. Pete and I hit it off great when we first met, then he found out about Cody. The man is confusing, but he really wants to help me find a puppy for Cody.

7. Do you read?

I love books, but rarely have time to read. If so, what is your favorite type of book to read? Romance.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wouldn’t be afraid to drive in winter weather. I know how ridiculous I am behaving, but what can I say—I’m a work in progress.

9. Do you have a pet?

No. But if Pete succeeds, my son may get a puppy for Christmas. If so, what is it and why that pet?

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I’m not a history buff, but I’ve always enjoyed the romance of the movie Pride and Prejudice. I think visiting that time period and going to one of the extravagant balls would be wonderful. I guess that’s what drew me to want to attend the Christmas Ball. It was like stepping back in time. J
