I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (Oct. 13th) evening.

Silver Bells new coverInterview with the heroine from Silver Bells by Deborah Raney:

1.  Michelle Penn, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I think it’s pretty cool that I’ve realized my dream of being a newspaper reporter, even without the college degree I was hoping for. Okay, so it’s a dead-end, small-town paper, but it’s something this Kansas farm girl never thought she’d achieve.

2.  What do you do for fun?

Well, now that I’ve met the boss’s hunky son, Rob Merrick, work is pretty fun any day Rob’s at the desk beside me.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Helping other people. I know I should. I want to. But I’m always afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing. So I do nothing, and then I feel guilty.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

I’m afraid of making the wrong decision about the most important decision in life––who I will marry.

5.  What do you want out of life?

Don’t tell anybody, because this is not a popular answer in this new age of women’s lib and feminine mystique, but my deepest desire is to marry a wonderful man and fill our house with babies.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

Well, besides my faith, family is most important––not just the husband and children I hope to have, but my extended family, too.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I love romance novels, but not the sleazy kind. The girl-meets-boy-marries-boy-has-babies-with-boy kind. I’ve read Catherine Marshall’s novel Christy at least four times since it came out in 1967.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I was more decisive. I have too much trouble making up my mind. About everything!

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

The landlords of the second floor apartment I rent don’t allow pets, but since I grew up on a farm, my attitude is that animals belong outside, not in the house.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I’d probably like to go back to Jane Austen’s day…so romantic! Well at least in novels. Not sure I’d want to do without our modern conveniences like electric typewriters, color TV, push button telephones, and that far out microwave oven they have at the newspaper office. (Never mind I almost burned the building down the first time I tried to use it!)
