The Cutting EdgeInterview with the heroine from The Cutting Edge by Ace Collins:

1. Leslie Rhoads tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Until I was attacked and my face was badly scarred, I was a cover girl model. In fact, I was about to become a super model. After the attack I had to learn to not only deal with my deep scars, but find a reason for living. Little did I know that during this struggle I was being stalked by the man who attacked me. So I guess the fact I am a victim is more interesting that my being once being a famous model.

2. What do you do for fun?

I love music, hanging out with my boyfriend and classic TV shows. At least I do now, for a while I didn’t know if fun would ever return to my life.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

For so long it has been looking in the mirror. When I see the deep scars left by the attack, I feel like a freak, at least I did for a long time. If I don’t have to see my face I can pretend I still look like a used to look.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Facing life without my beauty. I depended up it, it made my living, it defined me and on that night in that dark alley when they used a broken whiskey bottle to attack me, I found myself without the thing I depended upon most. So that scared me even more than the fact I didn’t know where the attacker were or when they would come after me again.

5. What do you want out of life?

Love and acceptance. I need to know that now that I am not perfect that I can still be loved. I need to know that beauty isn’t the only thing that defines me.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

For a long time it was my beauty, but now it trying to help an abused little girl learn that she has value. When I look at her scars I realize that something good can come out what has happened to me.

7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

With what I have been through I stay away from books about crime, I have had enough of that. What I like to read is stories that had kind of a Cinderella theme. I want to lose myself in a book where the heroine finds her handsome prince.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My reliance on only my looks. I thought that was all I needed so I never developed much depth. Therefore when I lost my beauty, I found I no reason to live.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I don’t have one but think I’d like a cat. I love their independent nature.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

If you know my story then you know why the answer is easy, I would go back to before I was attacked, before I lost my looks. But, now that I think about it, maybe I needed that moment to grow up. So, let me change my mind and say the 1950s so I could dance to Ricky Nelson and Elvis and ride in those cool cars.
