This week I’m hosting Liz Johnson with SEAL under Siege and Jan Watson with Tattler’s Branch. If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (Sept. 22nd) evening.

9780373445547Interview with the heroine from SEAL under Siege by Liz Johnson:

1.  Staci Hayes, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

For the last couple of years I’ve been serving in a clinic for women and children in a small Middle Eastern country. I love caring for little ones and their moms. But I was kidnapped by terrorists, accused of distributing Bibles, and put into a cell for three weeks until a team of SEALs broke me out.

2.  What do you do for fun?

When I’m in the States, I love to watch football, especially the San Diego Chargers.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Getting my driver’s license renewed. Oh, seriously? I really dread having difficult conversations. It’s so hard for me to open up, especially to men who seem to have it all together. When I had to face a room full of Navy SEALs to ask my rescuer for help, I thought my legs were going to completely buckle beneath me. But I couldn’t put off that conversation forever. Someone was after me and threatening a major attack in San Diego.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

I’m afraid that I’ll never be enough. I’m afraid that the guy I’m falling for will see my flaws and know that I’ll never be whole or complete.

5.  What do you want out of life?

More than anything I want a family of my own. I love my nieces with all my heart, but I can only imagine how much more I’d love my own children. I have a great relationship with my parents, and I’d love to have that same kind of relationship some day. If only . . .

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

I love caring for little ones who have been forgotten by the rest of the world. I think we’re called to care for those who can’t care for themselves, and I will always work to serve them.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I love to read. I often read story books to my nieces. And when I get to read just for the fun of it, I enjoy the classics by Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My courage. I’d like to be much braver than I am. I wish I wasn’t afraid as much as I am. I’d like to be stronger. But Tristan is helping me find courage I didn’t even know I had.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I’ve been out of the country, so I haven’t had any pets, but when I was a child, I had a cat. Snowball was a big, white furry fluff, and she loved to snuggle. San Diego doesn’t get too cold, but when the wind would pick up off the ocean, we’d sit out on the porch, and she’d keep me warm while I read.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

Oh, I think I’d like to visit Jane Austen’s England. Lovely dresses and community balls. The simplicity of life. I’d love to visit, but I don’t think I’d like to stay for too long. I’m practically an old maid by today’s terms. Two centuries ago, I’d have been an anomaly like Jane herself.

love this type of a suspense story line. In the book Staci said she hated to get her drivers license because the question the men ask her, i hate to because of how my picture turns out. God bless you.
