Veronica HeleyHeroine Interview from Murder with Mercy by Veronica Heley:

1. Tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Ellie Quicke doesn’t have much of  an opinion of  herself  but manages somehow to right wrongs in her community while looking after vulnerable members of her household. She has long been tyrannised by her ambitious daughter Diana, but is gradually learning how to cope with her.

2.  What do you do for fun?

She gardens.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

She tries to avoid conflict, but when push comes to shove, she gets down to it.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

Spiders.

5.  What do you want out of life?

To provide a comfortable home for those she loves, and to be a faithful steward of the money she has inherited.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

Her husband, Thomas.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

Ellie doesn’t have much time for reading. Some light crime, perhaps? The daily newspapers. The odd Maeve Binchy or historical romance.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

The capacity to attract dirt on her clothes and, sigh, a svelte figure.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

Ellie doesn’t possess a cat – but the cat Midge has adopted her and she’s stuck with him.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

She’d love to have seen the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
