TheSurvivor_FinalHeroine Interview from The Survivor by DiAnn Mills:

We have with us today Kariss Walker, bestselling suspense writer. Her latest novel is based on another FBI Houston solved cold case. Her nose for trouble nearly got her killed this time, and I’m not sure what’s going on with Kariss and FBI Special Agent Tigo Harris. I’ll open the interview with a series of questions, and lets see what insights we learn from Kariss today.

1.Kariss, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Kariss: I never give up. No matter how insurmountable a task, I will find a way to achieve it. Danger should deter me, should make me run and hide. Yet it doesn’t. If I hear about a victim, I want to help. I guess that’s why I write suspense.

2. What do you do for fun?

Kariss: Spend time with family. There are six of us—two boys and four girls, and ’m the youngest girl. When we have family outings, I forget about everything but the moment. I also enjoy the typical girly stuff like shopping. I read constantly, but the problem is I analyze too much. When I find myself totally immersed in a novel, then I know it’s a great read.

3, What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Balancing my checkbook. Keeping track of expenses for my accountant. Anything that involves math. My mind whirls when in creation mode, but it takes a nose dive when it comes to numbers.

 4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Growing old without a husband and family. One day I want to share my adventures with a man who loves me. I might even learn how to cook. I thought I’d found that man …

 5. What do you want out of life?

To feel like I’ve done all I can with what God has given me to make this world a better place. It’s not about the number of books I’ve written; it’s about the lives I’ve touched. I’ve achieved a lot of success, and that’s grand, but it’s not what I want the most.

6. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

That’s a tough question. I tend to be a perfectionist—except when it comes to math and cooking. Lousy in both areas. I’d say the pain I put God and my parents through during my college days and after when I thought my way was better than God’s way.

7. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

Kariss: Not even a fish. Not sure what I’ll do if I ever have kids. Honestly I’m petrified of dogs. Always have been. I was bitten once and never got over it.

8. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I’d like to be alive during the American Revolution. I’d want to be a spy for the colonies and report to General Washington. Can’t imagine sewing American flags, but I’d make sure they were in sight of the British army!
