coverInterview with the heroine: Jeusha Springer – A Quilt For Jenna by Patrick E. Craig

1.Jerusha Springer, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I am a quilter, I am Amish so it is a natural thing for me to do. My grandmother taught me when I was ten and I have been quilting ever since.

2. What do you do for fun?

For me, the most “fun” time of the year is after the harvest when we Amish spend much time visiting and feasting from house to house.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Washing my husband Reuben’s work clothes.  He can get so dirty in the fields and sometimes I spend hours scrubbing the stains out of his overhauls.  I want him to know that I am a good wife.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

That I will fall into the trap of pride when someone compliments my quilts

5.  What do you want out of life?

I want to be a good Amish wife, I want my husband to be happy, I want to know the Lord better, and I want to be a good mama to my daughter Jenny.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

My family and my heritage.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I read the bible – it is my favorite book.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My tendency to unbelief in God and His grace toward me.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

We have many animals on our farm, but I wouldn’t call them pets.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

Back to the founding of my family to meet the men and women who underwent terrible persecution to keep the faith intact.
